About us
CivicInsight.uk is operated by Civic Insight Media Ltd., a private limited company registered in England and Wales (company no. 16184729). We publish news, analysis, commentary and in-depth reporting on UK public affairs. Our mission is to help readers understand how political decisions, public institutions and social change affect everyday life, the economy and democratic participation. We believe that informed citizens are essential to a healthy democracy, and we work to provide clear, accurate and independent coverage of the issues that shape the United Kingdom.
What we cover and for whom
Our reporting spans public debate, policy, local government, the economy, education, health and current affairs. We focus on the decisions made in Westminster, Whitehall, town halls and public agencies, and we examine how those decisions affect communities, households and businesses across the country. Our readers include citizens who want to follow public affairs, professionals working in policy and government, academics, journalists and anyone who seeks a deeper understanding of how the UK is governed.
We are headquartered in London but our coverage extends to all nations and regions of the UK. We give particular attention to local government and community issues, which are often under-reported but have a direct impact on people’s daily lives.
How we work
Every piece of editorial content published on CivicInsight.uk is reviewed by a human editor before publication. Our editorial process includes source verification, factual checks and careful consideration of context and fairness. For sensitive or contested topics, we apply additional fact-checking and review procedures before publication. Our editorial policy and fact-checking standards are publicly available: see our Editorial Policy and Fact-Checking Policy for full details.
We are transparent about our funding. CivicInsight.uk is supported by advertising, commercial partnerships and clearly labelled sponsored content. No commercial partner influences editorial coverage unless content is explicitly marked as sponsored. Our editorial decisions are made independently, guided by our ethical guidelines and the public interest.
Editorial responsibility
The Editor-in-Chief and Responsible Publisher is Rebecca Langford. She holds overall editorial responsibility for publication decisions, editorial policy, source review, corrections, ethical guidelines and quality assurance. Day-to-day editorial planning, news prioritisation, article production and the publishing schedule are led by Samuel Hartley, Managing Editor. Our full editorial team includes specialist editors for public affairs, policy and research, community and local government, and a standards and fact-checking lead. You can meet the whole team on our Our Team page.
