Did Carey Mulligan appear in Saltburn?
- No source in our research confirms a Saltburn role, so we list it as unverified rather than as fact.
- Check a named film database before publishing any role details.
Her Oscar record is well documented, yet the television and Saltburn claims that circulate most widely are the ones no source in our research will confirm. Confidence in the awards should not spill over into those credits.
The implication: her film and awards record can be cited with confidence, while the Saltburn and Doctor Who claims need a named source before they go into print.
Are Carey Mulligan and Mumford still married?
Carey Mulligan married Marcus Mumford on 21 April 2012, in Somerset, England, according to People. The same report says the two first met as pre-teen campers and childhood pen pals before reconnecting as adults.
Mumford fronts Mumford & Sons, which won Album of the Year for Babel at the 55th Grammy Awards on 10 February 2013 (Town & Country (lifestyle magazine)). The couple’s children number three according to US Weekly, though the sources we reviewed do not agree on the count and the children’s names and birth years are missing.
- Wedding date: 21 April 2012 (People)
- Origin: childhood pen pals who reconnected as adults (People)
- Current status: no dated source found in our research
The 2012 wedding date is a fixed point; the present tense is not. Any article calling them married today needs a recent, dated source behind that claim.
The implication: the wedding date is safe to repeat, but “still married” is a claim the current research cannot support.
What Netflix series is Carey Mulligan in?
Our sources separate Netflix films from Netflix series, and the two lists barely overlap. The film side is clearest: Mudbound (2017), directed by Dee Rees, was released on Netflix, according to Wikipedia.
Which Carey Mulligan films are on Netflix?
- Film: Mudbound (2017), directed by Dee Rees, released on Netflix (Wikipedia)
- Series: Collateral (2018), a Netflix and BBC production (Wikipedia)
- Series: Beef season two (2026), with Oscar Isaac (Wikipedia)
In season two of Beef, Mulligan plays Lindsay Crane-Martin opposite Oscar Isaac’s Joshua Martín, according to The Independent (UK newspaper).
Wikipedia also states that Mulligan produced the season and received two Primetime Emmy nominations for it. No Television Academy record appears in our research, so that Emmy count remains unconfirmed.
No Netflix catalog page appears in our research, so every Netflix label in this section rests on a secondary source. The Beef Emmy count carries the most weight and has the thinnest sourcing.
The trade-off: the Mudbound film credit is the strongest Netflix claim here, while the series credits depend on secondary reporting.
Are Keira Knightley and Carey Mulligan friends?
The two actresses worked together on Never Let Me Go (2010), which also starred Andrew Garfield, according to Acting Magazine. That shared film credit is the only link between them that our research documents.
Did Carey Mulligan appear in Never Let Me Go?
- Yes, in the 2010 film alongside Keira Knightley and Andrew Garfield (Acting Magazine)
- A personal friendship is not established in the sources we reviewed.
- No source in our research describes their relationship off screen.
The pattern: a shared film credit is verified, but a friendship claim would need its own dated source.
Did Ryan Gosling date Carey Mulligan?
Mulligan and Ryan Gosling co-starred in Drive (2011), according to TV Insider. No dating relationship appears in our research, and we do not state one. A co-star credit is not evidence of a relationship.
Did Carey Mulligan and Ryan Gosling work together?
- Yes, in Drive (2011), where Mulligan played Irene, a single mother (TV Insider)
- Drive is a neo-noir thriller, and her role is separate from her work in Shame.
- Dating: no source found in our research.
Why this matters: dating questions attract claims faster than records, so this section answers only what the sources document.
Confirmed facts and what’s unclear
Confirmed facts
- Born 28 May 1985 in Westminster, London (IMDb)
- Film debut as Kitty Bennet in Pride & Prejudice, 2005 (IMDb)
- Married Marcus Mumford on 21 April 2012 (People)
- Oscar nominations for An Education (2009) and Maestro (2023) (Britannica)
What’s unclear
- Current marital status with Marcus Mumford: no dated source in our research
- Number of children: three according to US Weekly, with sources disagreeing
- Age: IMDb lists 40, and no fixed current figure is confirmed
- Saltburn and Doctor Who appearances: no source found
- Height: no source found
- Beef season-two Emmy nominations: appear only in Wikipedia, with no Television Academy record
- CBE in 2025: one source, rated medium confidence in our research
The implication: the confirmed list is short and sourced, and the unclear list is longer, so the honest default is to hold claims until a named record appears.
In their own words
Three voices in our sources describe Mulligan’s work, and only the first is Mulligan speaking.
“I didn’t want her to be a simple, careless girl. I wanted to show her internal struggles.”
Carey Mulligan, on playing Daisy Buchanan in The Great Gatsby, as reported by Acting Magazine
“The emotion is always palpable and full and felt, but it’s often tucked away and maybe disguised or hidden in reserve.”
Meryl Streep, presenting Mulligan with an international award at Palm Springs 2024, as reported by The Independent
“This great Bafta-winning British actress is the queen of containment.”
A critic for The Independent
The implication: only the first quote comes from Mulligan herself, while the other two are outside voices describing her work, and readers should weigh them that way.
Where the record stands
Editors writing about Mulligan face a split record: a documented film and awards history on one side, and a thin, partly unverified personal-life file on the other. The Oscar nominations, the 2012 wedding date and the Mudbound release all trace to named sources, and they can carry a headline. The Saltburn credit, the Doctor Who credit and the present tense of her marriage cannot, at least not on the evidence gathered here. Publishers who repeat the Saltburn, Doctor Who or current-marriage claims before a dated record appears will put unsupported claims in front of readers.
